BÀI MẪU 7.0+ WRITING TASK 2 IELTS 03/11/2021 - CRIMINALS RE-OFFEND.

Recent research suggests that the majority of criminals who are sent to prison commit crimes after they are released.

Why is this the case?

What can be done to solve this problem?

After being released from jail, the majority of ex-criminals re-offend. This, I believe, is directly tied to the financial and psychological difficulties faced by ex-prisoners. However, governments can employ some efficient strategies for addressing these issues.

To begin with, the majority of recidivism rates may be explained by the most basic motivation for the crimes in question. That is, extreme poverty, which often forces people to commit crimes such as burglary or even homicide in order to survive. They usually have to steal to satisfy their hunger and, in some extreme cases, commit murder. And this is exacerbated for many former convicts who struggle to obtain jobs due to the permanent criminal record on their files. Psychological issues, on the other hand, must also be taken into account. Numerous offenders have already had rough adult hoods and lack the financial means to seek psychotherapy, which also leads to adult crimes.

On the other hand, government intervention is necessary to resolve these issues. To start, the government must ensure financial stability and work opportunities for former offenders. Former inmates require employment, which eliminates the necessity for them to commit crimes in order to earn a livelihood. Another measure is religion. While it is not as influential as it once was, the authorities can also take a religious approach to criminal rehabilitation. Research suggests that having faith can considerably help improve individuals' ethical behavior. Otherwise, they will readily commit crimes again without hesitation.

In conclusion, the primary reasons ex-convicts re-offend are economic and psychological distress. The authorities must take reasonable and effective measures to resolve this pattern.
