Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Advertising has been indispensable in promoting products to people since time immemorial. However, the current heated debate over whether advertising is still effective at attracting purchasers or if it has grown too monotonous to draw attention has not been resolved. These two opposing arguments may be summarized as follows.
Advocators for advertising efficacy often assert that watching commercials raises their brand awareness and provides useful information. Through that, they can learn about the product's qualities, its origin, and its benefits before making purchases. Otherwise, they will be unable to decide which one they need. Another point is that many advertisements must go through several phases of analysis and evaluation, which are carefully conducted by marketing professionals. This indicates that an advertisement is usually proven to be effective from the moment it is released. The above reasons are quite convincing and are often used by a lot of proponents of advertising effectiveness.
On the other hand, many opponents of advertising claim that it is mainly because of misuse that advertising has become so repetitive that it no longer attracts attention. They noted that repeated promotion of a product over an extended period of time, such as television commercials or internet pop-ups, can cause a sense of overwhelm and annoyance. As a consequence, individuals may become less impressed with these items. Another counter-argument is that consumers now distrust advertisements because they seldom convey the truth about products. For instance, actual food usually does not taste and look as it appears in advertisements.
Overall, it seems to me that individuals who support the notion that advertisements have become more and more monotonous have more compelling grounds. In my opinion, individuals should actively demand advertisements to be more in favor of honesty and improving customers' benefits. (291 words)
