Bài Mẫu 7.0+ IELTS Mới 2021 - Working

Some people believe that it is a good idea that older people continue to work if it is possible for them to do.

Do you agree or disagree?

The relationship between work and age is often complicated. While I think that the elderly should retire and devote time to their hobbies, I would have to agree with the notion that they should keep working if possible.

On the one hand, the majority of older adults often fail to adapt to a fast-changing society and would be better off enjoying the pleasures of their retirement. This is true since most businesses nowadays, such as medicine or engineering, require their employees to have a certain degree of expertise, and the elderly often struggle to meet such standards. If they have to work, they will feel obsolete and discouraged. Rather than that, if possible, seniors should use their savings to spend time relaxing or participating in other pastimes they love. For instance, many retirees use their remaining time and health to improve their skills, such as gardening, crafting, or painting. They may then express themselves more effectively and discover new interests in life.

However, because their mental and physical aging processes are slow, many older adults still find their work rewarding. There are several cases of senior citizens working in highly demanding industries such as technology, science, medication, design, or acting and feeling good about themselves. Moreover, not all the elderly are financially self-sufficient or adequately supported by their offspring, creating the need for additional income from labor. Thus, without a job, most older people will experience feelings of worthlessness, disorientation, and insecurity.

In conclusion, though it is true that some older adults should retire with dignity and pursue other interests, I agree that the majority of elderly citizens should continue to work if possible. Additionally, the government should make proper efforts to assist the elderly in finding work. (288 words)
