WRITING TASK 2 - BAND 7.0+/GLOBALIZATION
Nowadays the differences between countries are becoming less evident because people follow the same media. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?
Distinctions across nations now are less apparent as people absorb the same media. Despite the limited benefits of cross-cultural exchange, I believe that this globalization trend has more drawbacks than benefits.
On the one hand, sharing a diversity of perspectives benefits the majority of people. There are several cases of this occurring in a variety of cultural fields. For instance, the spread of a diverse spectrum of movie genres is facilitated by the advancement of modern technology. Not only did citizens worldwide benefit personally from watching the latest Hollywood blockbusters, but this openness also influenced other nations' inspiration. Science-fiction, Westerns, or Superhero are just a few of the film genres that have emerged as a result of this collaboration and sharing. This pattern is also evident in other forms of art, yet few would argue that it is a negative development.
Nonetheless, globalization's positives have shifted to negatives as nations have grown less innovative. The early creative prosperity has devolved into a danger to native cultures. A good example of this would be the likeness in television as a result of the popularity of on-demand streaming services such as HBO, Disney+, or Netflix. These make television programs across countries shift from their own unique, traditional styles to identical ones. The same limited definition of film-making that was used in the past, which led nations to imitate Hollywood, can now influence the substantial possibility that most cultures will be less original and innovative.
In conclusion, I would therefore argue that although there are past creative benefits of globalization, they are outweighed by the negative aspects. Thus, it is critical for nations to make an effort to preserve and protect their cultural identities wherever possible. (283 words)
