WRITING BAND 7+ // TOURISM

Nowadays many people travel to foreign countries for pleasure. Some believe this travel has a negative impact on the countries traveled to.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is said that the pervasiveness of international leisure travel these days is detrimental to the nations visited. To my mind, I am totally opposed to this flawed thinking due to the substantial economic benefits and employment prospects it brings to these countries.

To begin with, one of the most obvious advantages of tourism is its undeniable economic positive impact on a nation. This is because the tourist industry frequently generates consistent financial flows from a variety of diverse sources for the destination country. For example, many businesses from these countries, such as airlines, including commercial and private, as well as hotels, home-stays, and guest houses, tend to make a lot of money from travelers around the world who fly to tourist attractions or look for a place to stay. In contrast, these significant revenues would be unlikely to be obtained without the economic contribution of tourist-related activities.

Another considerable benefit of tourism is its ability to create jobs. In other words, it often provides employment to many people who might previously have been unemployed. For instance, without the growth of tourists, most current entertainment facilities such as bars, casinos, theaters, or theme parks like Disney or Universal would not be so popular and labor-intensive. Furthermore, individuals, particularly ethnic minorities, can work as tour guides or for travel agencies, as well as open traditional handicrafts stores, allowing them to earn significantly more money and have a better livelihood than their traditional past ways of life, such as agriculture or breeding.

In conclusion, I completely disagree that pleasure tourism's ubiquity is a negative given the economic and career advantages it brings for the visited country and its citizens. The government should prioritize tourist expansion in the future. (286 words)
